Do Bangladeshis need a visa?

Verified rules for Bangladesh passport holders across 52 destinations, grouped by what you need before you fly.

Bangladesh passport: the picture at a glance

52 destinations are verified for Bangladeshis: 2 visa-free, 1 with a visa on arrival, 11 with an e-visa or electronic travel authorisation to approve before boarding, and 38 that need a visa applied for in advance. The table lists each destination with the rule and the allowed stay; every row opens a one-question page with the verified answer, the official source and what to carry.

Rules are written for ordinary passports and tourism or short business visits. Study, work, family and residence routes have their own requirements on the destination page, and some rules change with your residence permit or a valid visa for a third country; where that applies the destination page says so.

How to read the table

  • Visa-free: no visa and no online form; the allowed stay is counted from the entry stamp
  • Visa on arrival: issued at the border for a fee, usually in cash or by card; some countries also let you pre-apply online
  • E-visa or ETA: applied for online and approved before boarding; airlines check the approval at check-in
  • Visa required: a sticker or consulate visa applied for before travel, often with biometrics at a visa application centre

Questions, answered

Which countries can Bangladeshis visit without a visa?

Of the 52 destinations verified for Bangladesh passport holders, 2 admit Bangladeshis visa-free: Nepal and Bhutan. Each entry shows the allowed stay and links to the official rule.

Where do Bangladeshis get a visa on arrival or an e-visa?

Visa on arrival: Maldives. E-visa or electronic travel authorisation approved before boarding: Australia, Bahrain, Indonesia (Bali), Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Thailand, Türkiye, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Kenya. An e-visa is not a visa on arrival: the approval must exist before the airline lets you fly.

Which destinations require Bangladeshis to apply for a visa in advance?

Argentina, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Schengen Area, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, China, Egypt, Georgia, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Oman, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States require a sticker or consulate visa applied for before travel. How are these rules verified?

Every rule is checked against the issuing government's own page (immigration authority, ministry of foreign affairs or official e-visa portal) by the Vistolane operations team, dated, and re-checked when the source changes; the latest verification for Bangladesh passports is 2026-11-05. Airline and visa-agency summaries are never used as the source.

Travelling on a Bangladeshi passport: what the verified rules show

Bangladeshi citizens have their easiest access within South Asia: Bhutan issues an entry permit on arrival to one of only three exempt nationalities, Nepal grants SAARC nationals a gratis visa on arrival for 30 days a year, and the Maldives gives every visitor a free 30-day visa on arrival with a hotel booking and return ticket. Sri Lanka requires a paid ETA before travel, since Bangladesh is not in its free-visa list. Online routes that avoid an embassy include Kenya's eTA, Malaysia's eVISA, Vietnam's e-visa, Thailand's tourist visa through the Thai e-Visa portal and the visitor visas of Australia and New Zealand; Turkey's e-visa is open only to holders of a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa.

For the Gulf states, Europe, North America, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, Bangladeshi applicants obtain a visa in advance at a consulate or visa centre, usually with biometrics, and processing runs from a few days to several weeks. Cambodia does not open its e-visa or visa on arrival to Bangladeshi nationals, Tanzania treats Bangladesh as a referral-visa nationality that needs prior approval, and Jordan requires Ministry of Interior clearance. Qatar's Hayya tourist visa, Bahrain's eVisa and Indonesia's tourist e-visa are listed with their conditions once the operations team has confirmed them against the official pages.

Rules are verified against the destination government's immigration authority rather than airline databases, and the verification date is shown on each rule. The destination pages give the fee, the decision window and the documents for every route, and the eligibility check shows how a profile measures against the usual refusal reasons.
