Free browser tools built from the Vistolane rules library: passport validity checker, visa photo checker, travel document checklist and a visa glossary.
Tools
What each tool does
Free, no account needed, and nothing you enter is stored: the checks run in your browser against the same rules Vistolane uses to file applications.
- Passport validity checker: Enter your passport expiry date, the date you travel and the destination
- Visa photo checker: Upload a photo and the checker measures it in your browser: resolution (at least 600 by 600 pixels), aspect ratio against the 35 by 45 mm standard used by the Schengen states, the UK and India or the 2 by 2 inch standard used by the United States and Canada, background brightness (plain white or off-white) and file size for online uploads
- Travel document checklist: Choose your visa type and destination, then tick items off as you gather them
- Visa glossary:
Questions, answered
Are the Vistolane visa tools free?
Yes. The passport validity checker, visa photo checker, travel checklist and glossary are free and need no account. They run in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded.
Do the tools replace a visa specialist?
No. They catch the mechanical mistakes (an expiring passport, a photo of the wrong size, a missing document) before a specialist reviews the file. The decision still rests with the destination's authorities.
Which tool should I use first?
Start with the passport validity checker, because most destinations need six months left on the passport. Then run the travel checklist for your visa type and check the photo last.
How often are the tools updated?
The rules behind them (validity months, photo specifications, document lists) are reviewed by the operations team when a government changes them and the page shows its last verified date.
How the free visa tools work
The four tools on this page cover the mechanical checks that cause most avoidable visa problems: a passport that expires too soon, a photo in the wrong size or on a tinted background, a document missing from the file and a term in the consulate's letter that nobody explains. Each tool runs entirely in your browser. The passport validity checker compares your expiry date with the travel date and the destination's rule, which is six months beyond the planned stay for most of Asia and the Gulf and three months beyond departure for the Schengen states. The photo checker measures resolution, aspect ratio and background brightness against the 35 by 45 mm standard used by India, the UK and the Schengen states and the 2 by 2 inch standard used by the United States and Canada.
The travel document checklist is built from the same rules library Vistolane uses to file applications: pick the visa type and destination and it lists the documents the authority asks for, in the order a visa officer reads them, with notes on bank statement periods, invitation letters and travel insurance minimums. The glossary explains the words that appear on government portals and refusal letters, from CAS and COE to biometrics, prior-approval and sticker visa.
None of the tools stores what you enter: the photo never leaves your device and the checklist is saved only in your browser unless you create a free account to keep it across devices. When a check fails, the tool says what to fix and links to the destination page where the fee, decision window and document list are kept current.
