Sponsor salary below SGD 6,000
The fixed monthly salary on the pass is under the threshold or includes variable allowances.
The fix. Request a fixed-salary revision from the employer or wait for a renewal at the higher salary.
An Employment Pass or S Pass holder earning at least SGD 6,000 a month can bring a spouse and unmarried children under 21 on Dependant's Passes, and common-law spouses, step-children and disabled children on Long-Term Visit Passes; parents need SGD 12,000. The employer applies on MOM's portal for SGD 105, MOM decides within about three weeks, and SGD 225 is paid on issuance. Dependants need their own work pass or a Letter of Consent to work, and the pass runs with the sponsor's.
Who can bring family to Singapore? Employment Pass and S Pass holders with a fixed monthly salary of SGD 6,000 or more for a spouse (legally married) and unmarried children under 21, including legally adopted children; SGD 12,000 for parents on a Long-Term Visit Pass. Common-law spouses, step-children and handicapped children over 21 use the LTVP. Spouses of Singapore citizens and PRs apply to ICA instead, often after a Pre-Marriage LTVP Assessment.
What does it cost? SGD 105 on application and SGD 225 on issuance per dependant for both the Dependant's Pass and the MOM Long-Term Visit Pass, plus SGD 30 for a multiple-journey visa where issued, paid by the employer or sponsor. Indian marriage and birth certificates need official English translations if not in English; medical examinations are required for LTVP holders staying over six months.
How long does it take from India? MOM processes most Dependant's Pass and LTVP applications within three weeks; filing them together with the main pass is common and they are decided together. Add one to two weeks for document preparation and the In-Principle Approval letter is valid six months for entry.

The salary test looks at the fixed monthly salary on the sponsor's pass; allowances count only if fixed. Both Employment Pass and S Pass holders qualify at SGD 6,000, so an S Pass holder at the SGD 3,300 floor cannot sponsor family. Overseas Networks and Expertise Pass and Personalised Employment Pass holders use the same rules. Dependants' passes are cancelled when the sponsor's pass ends and have the same expiry.
Dependant's Pass holders have not been able to work on the pass alone since 1 May 2021: they need an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit from their own employer, or a Letter of Consent if they run a registered business as a director or sole proprietor. Children can attend school on a Dependant's Pass without a Student's Pass. Spouses of Singapore citizens and permanent residents follow ICA's LTVP route, which is separate and considers the couple's finances and the Pre-Marriage LTVP Assessment.
